Lead By Example

Every year we have an theme to go along with our character education program. This year the theme was "lead by example". I decided to incorporate this into a class lesson with my 6th grade students. After a discussion around what it means to lead by example, we did a whole group brainstorm of ways they can be leaders throughout the school year. I then gave each student 2 feet and asked them to come up with 2 things they are going to do this year to lead by example. This not only served the purpose of discussing the theme for the year but it also was a way to discuss goal setting and accountability. This is the display I created in the cafeteria. A group of students created the large poster in the center and then each students feet are surrounding it.
