I recently received this poster in the mail and decided to do an essay contest in 5th grade. Following a lesson on kindness, students had the opportunity to write an essay on what this quote from the book, "Wonder" means:
"When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind"
I then asked students to elaborate on how they would choose to be kind in their lives (at school and at home). 20 students won the contest and I displayed their essays in the cafeteria. They also have their names written on the poster that was sent to me. I posted their prizes in an earlier post :)
